Directions: Coming into Franschhoek on the R45 from either Stellenbosch or Paarl, look for signs to Moreson just outside the town, on the Happy Valley Road (which is gravel, not tarred). Turn down this road and follow it to the end.

Review
Moreson is a great place to taste wine, especially as the week grows older. From Wednesday to Sunday, the estate’s in-house restaurant, Bread and Wine, opens for business alonside the tasting room – it’s one of the best secret lunch spots in the Franschhoek Valley.

This is one of the valley’s smaller estates – all Moreson’s wines come from something like just 30 hectares of vines – and its products reflect this commitment to terroir. The estate produces two table ranges, Pinecrest and Pinehurst, which are sold internationally, and a signature range, the Moreson wines, which garner heaps of awards. The staff behind the tasting counter can be almost intimidatingly knowledgeable, but in the end you leave with a lot more local wine facts than you arrived with – and, like as not, several bottles of thing itself.

For its beautiful surrounds, cozy set-up and 7-day week, Moreson gets an SA Logue “Best of Franschhoek” award.
