Africa’s World Cup Woes Worsen
Togo garnered some respect in their 2-nil defeat to Switzerland (who you can’t really see going very far beyond the round of 16, if they pip France to that post), while Tunisia blew a 1-nil lead during their game against Spain in the 70th minute, and ultimately suffered a 3-1 defeat.
So Togo are out, and Tunisia are teetering, their World Cup prospects hanging by the slender hope of a win against the Ukraine. It strikes me that, if Ghana blow their (surprisingly good) chances of getting past the group stages, then SA Logue will have to find a surrogate team for Africa’s vicarious support.
Among the teams from the South, Argentina looks good (and has a latitude similar to SA’s). Any other suggestions?
