Barts Clogs: the Ultimate Apres-Surf Footwear

Spotted! Barts Clogs!

There are many variations on the soft, light plastic “shandal” (that’s shoe + sandal) currently taking the world by storm, such as Waldies, Crocs – and now, in Cape Town, Barts Clogs, which share the same characteristics as the other brands, but go for half the price.

SA Blog happened upon a rack of the almost-lighter-than-air clogs at a local pharmacy, and promptly confirmed, with a test walk, that they’re the real thing: wonderfully forgiving on the feet – walking in them’s like walking barefoot, but cleaner – and clearly quite durable.

The clogs are made from Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate, or EVA (also known as CCP – Closed Cell Phylon). The shoes mold to your feet’s shape, so there are no awkward stiffnesses or painful pressure-points. They are also non-slip, non-marking, odor-proof, and waterproof. Originally designed as a shoe for kayakers, they float nicely, too! Perfect for apres-surf lounging.

Barts Clogs are available only in Cape Town, for the moment, at these stores:

  • Lavender Blue-HealthShop (Tableview)
  • Olsens Pharmacy (Cape Town)
  • Bartholomews Hair (Cape town)
  • Westport Pharmacy (West Beach)
  • Wind Sports (Kitebeach)
  • Nature’s Deli (Tableview)
  • Tam Tam Trading (Paarden Island)
  • Brian’s Kayaks (Milnerton)
  • Atlantic Surf Company (Melkbos & Blouberg)
