Philip,

Thank you so much for all of this information.

I think that we are actually going to fly to Cape Town in lieu of driving. If we had more time in the country, we would certainly be keener to drive the entire stretch and follow your itinerary which looks amazing. That being said, I think that we would prefer to cover a bit less ground to get know places a bit more and to avoid exhaustion.

Our plan is to fly to Cape Town immediately upon arriving to South Africa. We’ll likely spend six nights there-the first of which will be completely lost to travel recovery.

How do you think this looks?

3/18-Arrive Joburg, fly to Cape Town

3/19-3/23-Follow your Cape Town Plan

3/24-3/27-fly to Joburg, follow your itinerary for days 1-4

3/28-3/29-Private game reserve

3/30-4/06: Kruger→Swaziland→Lesotho→Back to Joburg along the Drakensberg?

This is where my remaining questions come in. Is this a sensible/logical path? If so, is 8 days enough to do it?

We would be happy staying in hostels, so if you know some good ones in Cape Town or the Drakensberg, I’d appreciate the info.

We’d love to meet you for beerssssssssss.

Jeff
