Review:
It might take a bite out of your wallet, but if you’re looking for luxury in Hout Bay, this is the place.

Run by UK expats Mark and Julia Fleming and opened in 2005, the Tarragon is hidden behind tall trees and a large gate at the end of a road outside of town. From the minute you walk in, the place oozes money – not in the grandiose over-the-top way, but in its sleek, modern, understated style. There are colorful decorative pillows, the bathrooms are finished with slate, the headboards are black, etc.

Each of the rooms have names. My personal favorite is Angelica, which sleeps six people and boasts a large living room, fireplace and bookshelf.

The grounds are wonderfully green – as is the water’s tinge in the koi pond. Only this and an unfilled fountain were eyesores – everything else matched the beauty of the surrounding mountain view.
