Further Insight & Opinion
La Vie provides quite an intimate little space for World Cup viewing on a cold winter’s eve. It’s a cosy bar with a reasonable supper menu, and, more importantly, Stella Artois on tap.

The staff are friendly and accommodating – they kept the joint open for the whole of last night’s game, which was probably the least riveting affair of football I’ve seen all year – and the screen is big, central and plasma.

La Vie’s only shortcoming seems to be its lack of barflies interested in the World Cup. There were only three viewers last evening (myself, my Lovely Assistant, and a friend) – which made for a thin atmosphere indeed. But the match was not a marquee one, to say the least, so perhaps things are a bit more lively when more inspiring teams are playing.
